Under the 1987 No. 15 Provincial Councils Act and the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of Sri Lanka, the Pathadumbara Provincial Council was officially launched on April 5, 1991. Mr. H.M. Nimal Herath Banda currently serves as the respected Chairman.
